Why I Chose Newborn Photography
How does a British Army Officer and career Physiotherapist, become a newborn photographer?
Well… I am a soppy git at heart, and closet a creative. I have always wanted to be a Physiotherapist, right back to the days of me walking on my dads back as a child and pulling on my grandmas knee… (don’t ask, apparently it helped, so that was my job!). I love meeting interesting people, problem solving, and making people feel good, all of which I think transfers pretty well to Photography! I am not so sure that donning my military uniform, running around in the mud, being on exercise or working all the hours is much like photography but it certainly helps you grow as a person.
I am so sentimental and having my own babies really made me want to capture them when they were tiny, the days just seem to fly by and I just didn’t want to forget those moments! I bought a second hand camera, a cheap light from amazon and pair of bunny ears and that was the first time I had a dabble with photography… (it was terrible!) But since then I have worked so hard to become the best photographer I can be, so that I can be proud of my work and best serve my clients.
I can also thank the Army for being in Ottawa. My husbands job brought us over here in 2020 as a 3. We are now a 4 and loving life in the sun and the snow. COVID has been tough, keeping us away from our family has been a challenge but with our fellow military families here to support us we are really setting in (probably too well!)…
Fast forward to 2022 and I am now an award winning photographer living in beautiful Ottawa. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for Sally Lygo Photography!!
